Integrated Industrial Design Lab

Integrated Industrial Design Lab (INDEL) is founded within the Department of Product and System Design Engineering (DPSD), University of the Aegean. Its purpose is to support the academic and research activities of the department which are related to the design, engineering and manufacturing phases of a product’s life-cycle.

The last years a new modern definition of product design has evolved. Nowadays, products tend to be more attractive and practical, simpler but esthetic, with an effort to be better embedded into the new arisen smart systems and equipment. At the same time safety specifications and regulations become stricter, underlying the fact that product design is a demanding multidisciplinary process. It is more than a necessity that current research on product life cycle scientific fields to continuously follow and embrace new design methodologies and technologies.

The members of our lab have extensive academic and industrial research experience on subjects related to both conceptual and detailed design of a product. The lab supports the collaboration of students with numerous commercial companies in undergraduate and graduate project-based courses on product design. In addition, the lab has developed new concepts and products for several companies (see clients list).

The members of INDEL have a strong record in participating R&D research projects funded by European and/or National institutions. Workshops, seminars, conferences and summer schools related to Product Design and Life-Cycle are also organized on an annual basis.

INDEL is also supporting the new M.Sc. Graduate Program on “Integrated Product Design & Innovation”.
